Canadian College Introduces Scholarships to Honor Victims of Islamophobic Assault


The Wes­tern College of Ontario, Canada, has introduced two new scholarships in honor of the late Madiha Salman and Salman Afzaal (her husband) — the victims of a deadly assault in Ontario on 6 June.

The college has launched the ‘Madiha Salman Memorial Scholarship in Civil and Environmental Engineering’ and the ‘Sal­man Afzaal Memorial Scholarship in Bodily Remedy’ to honor the couple and to make sure that they’re remembered for embracing inclusion, valuing schooling, and creating their neighborhood.

Basically, a full-time feminine graduate pupil enrolled in both a doctoral or Grasp’s program within the Division of Civil and Environmental Engineering, together with her analysis plans centered on environmental engineering shall be eligible to obtain the Madiha Salman scholarship.

A spokesperson for Madiha’s household stated, “As a Muslim, Madiha strongly believed in inclusivity and so this award shall be open to college students who advocate for the inclusion of all races and religions”.
