Ghulam Murtaza Lashari who was the servant of Talpur’s family teased Shahzeb Khan and harassed his sister which lead to a fight between Shahzeb and Talpurs with his friends.

The victim mother stated that warned his mother and said that he stopped her son and he did the same what his mother told him, he apologized but the Talpur didn’t accept his apology and said that they will accept on one condition if their servant would slap his son.

His mother told Shahzeb khan to leave the place immediately. Shahrukh Jataoi said that they will kill her son. The fight soon ended but still, Talpur with his friends follow Shahzeb and gunned him down in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority.

At the start, no action was taken to arrest them which made this case has become the focus for people through social media to demand justice for Shahzeb Khan as The Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had taken a suo motu notice of the incident which spread across the country through newspapers, Tv channels and social media.

As the murderers belonged to a powerful family, the incident has triggered a nationwide debate over whether an average family can get justice or not? Or whether the country elite class could e held accountable for crimes they committed.

The murderers; Siraj Talpur, Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were arrested on 7 January 2013 in the case of Shahzeb Khan by The judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of anti-Terrorism Court.

In the meantime, Shahrukh Jatao fled to Dubai but arrested later. People who were present at the time of murder identified the suspects. After a lot of new changes, the case was finally filed in March which gives the judgment Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur sentenced to death.

Recently, on 28 November 2017, the murder case of Shahzeb Khan took a new dramatic twist as Sindh High Court put aside the punishment awarded to Shahrukh Jatoi with three others and ordered a repeal of the case.

After hearing a criminal review application filed from Sharukh Jatoi Lawyers; the SHC has made a decision to retrial the case.

Siraj younger brother, Sajjad Ali Talpur and his servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari had been awarded death sentence.

Few months after the sentence, Shahzeb parents have shown a formal pardon to the convicts which was approved by the SHC. The court decided that both the parties decide to set a pardon application.  The court ordered that the pardon application should be verified and submitted before it.

The case was continued until January 5.
